Toor daal(split pigeonpeas)- 150g
Kairi(raw mango)- 1
Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
Oil- 1tbsp
Sesame seeds- 1/4 tsp
Cumin seeds- ¼ tsp
Asafoetida- a pinch
Curry leaves- 5 to 6
Dry Red chillies- 2
Salt -3/4 tsp
Method
Peel
the skin of kairi and grate it. Wash toor daal and put it in a pressure cooker
along with plenty of water. Add turmeric powder and half a cup of grated kairi
to this and pressure cook on low flame
for 20 to 25 minutes. Now heat oil into a vessel and add sesame seeds, cumin
seeds, curry leaves, dry red chillies and asafetida. To this add the cooked
daal. Add salt according to taste and stir well. Keep heating the daal on a low
flame until it starts boiling. Now the kairi daal is ready. Serve it with hot
rice.
